The highlight of this week should be my short 3 day trip to macau, with my closer family members. Was my 1st time taking budget airways. Everything was budget, right from the airport budget terminal to the food in the air ( i bought $5 cup noodles), and to the in-flight services. As an archi student, i was so shock to see our local airport terminal's ceiling exposed. ZOMG, they didn't even bother to do up the false ceiling to cover the nasty steel structures and vermiculites, its a freaking warehouse for god's sake. The only thing that looked more presentable was the duty free shop located at arrival, chocked full of liquor thirsty budget travellers (including me). Ok enough of that, i'm just grateful they kept prices low in par with the products/services.
I initially thought

Suddenly i notice something important :
.... i wore that exact same shirt on all seperate events.
Obviously wearing sneakers, a mickey shirt and a backpack does not help at all during casino entry. Everyone please note this and make no same mistake ever again. The next day, i donned on long black pants, a sleazy pink shirt, with an unshaven chin messed up hair, which greatly improved my image as a proper gambler.
The irony is, i spent nada on the tables, as i could not stand the smell of cigs and tabacco in the air-con room for even 5 minutes. The only way i will sit there and throw all my money away is with a oxygen mask and 2hrs worth of gas tank beside me.
The rest of the trip was pretty mundane, taxi-ing all over the city, looking at sights for less than 1hr and its off we go... The bestest best part was probably the cirque de soleil show in the venetian hotel, in which i got to sit right in the middle of the theatre. We even got a $40 discount off the tickets too ! Worth every cent of the price of the tics. The music, acrobatics, theatrics were all up up class.
As i look back of the week i spent eating, sleeping and travelling, i really wonder if another 20 years down the road, will we still be able to spend our time doing leisure activities ?
As i recall past year, around this date, i was in some island jungle digging graves and getting my feet and undies wet as the rainy season kicked in. And i'm here now, blogging in an aircon room with a glass of duty free plum liquor. Oh and did i mention ? I caught some bad flu back in not so humid macau and currently suffering the consequences of expensive medical bills (but that means another 2 day extended break from work !).
20 more days to pay day. 10 more months to school start. Many more years more to retirement. I can't wait to withdraw all my CPF.
