For today's post, i've got some pretty interesting pictures to show, they don't come knocking on your doorstep everyday. First up, though its a public holiday tomorrow, it sure feels like the whole week had ended already even its only wednesday, oh how time flies.

Ah, a mystery box, with nice ribbon at the top, hmmm, maybe a secret admirer from the office, wow, finally turn to shine has arrive, but where is the letter ? There's always a handwritten note somewhere.... BUT WAIT. Most of the ladies in office are above age, matured married with kids whom i could play CS with. OH GOSH this is wrong. Ok, cancel that thought about the secret admirer, its just wronggg. Let's open it up
Haha, its actually from a male colleague, his wife just gave birth to a daughter a week ago and now she's a month old. I still remember one month back what happened in the office, its interesting too but i wont be too naggy. Well, these are cupcakes, with nice RED ribbons filling up the empty spaces in the paper box. Presentation scores a 9/10 from me. Taste wise, hmm, not too sure, someone ate it up when i brought it back home, all i know the stuff at the top are icing and it looks real sweet. Seriously who can enjoy eating up such a cute baby face anyways.

Ok, back to lunch break. Episode 54. Its been 1 month since i started from episode one of this show. Do the maths.
Last night was quite difficult to sleep, i lowered the temperature of my air-con but its a no-go. Ever since i learned quite a bit yesterday of the on-goings of a fellow friend, yeah, its bugging me. So here's my take on things and issues so far.
So, Singapore is pushing to become a education hub, well maybe pretty much so due to our infrastructure and economy. People all over south east asia come from don't know how far, mortgage don't know how many houses and their own cars, just to get some proper education in our country, and hoping that, with a higher education, one could ask for a higher salary in hopes for a better life.
For most of us, getting a degree in these days are considered a minimum, the basic basic. Completing a simple 10 yr education now is nothing, finishing your As are nothing, a diploma, worse, i won't even touch on the other technical educations. Its super duper competitive now, i cant stress enough of that. Someone i know, whom i am connected to, is going to fly off with a scholarship to US/UK to study medicine, she's got straight As for all her A lvl subjects and S paper as well.
Haha, weaker people like us get stuck, without choices, we do it locally in our 3 universities. Ok lets face it, regardless of what kind of final results you get, whether you got your first class honors or not, telling people you're from stanford, harvard, oxford, or maybe even toudai, compared to saying "Hi, i'm from ANyouASS", the difference is obvious.
Well, if you're given a seat a place in a university, not bad already. Next step is to work hard, cherish the opportunity and do your best. Some might think, i'm having the reverse sour grapes attitude (i made that up), maybe, but needless to say, its the RIGHT thing to do desho ?
For every place taken up, someone else loses their chance to be admitted. Its the same across the world across the levels of education. To quote my lecturer, "Its a pity so many students are dropping out halfway, in their 2nd year or even start of the 3rd year. We admit 200 people and only 80 could get in, the rest are rejected, and now, we're losing some of the 80 and we can't bring them back."
Another side of this is that, maybe dropping out MIGHT be a good thing. A primary school teacher once said her friend studied archi in a local u, suffered for the full 5 years, in the end come out as a school teacher teaching geography.
I sort of agree with serene on going along with the mainstream, because if you don't, and all your other friends are doing it, i guess you would feel left out. Nothing wrong, its rational human psychology. Infact, it takes great courage and responsibility to be able to break away from the course set for us by our seniors/system. Going straight into cooking/street performance/odd odd jobs after your A levels/O levels even though you qualify for a higher education ? These kind of people, if they do exist, i really will respect them. Cause knowing such paths don't easily give you a sense of social security in the future, and taking the steps into achieving them, its just amazing.
Yeah, sometimes, i also agree with my supervisor, he mentioned we should work in any industry first before taking up any tertiary courses of that line, we should experience first hand of how you want your life to be, your profession before spending money on education you won't need. I'm glad i'm exposed early to the wonderful (deep deep meaning) line of design, because right now, i can make that decision to plan ahead.
Life, we should make our choices ourselves, Its our own LIFE.
Ok cut short the serious stuff, QUIZ TIME.
Identify the two buildings below and tell me the answer either via msn or cboxing it. First person with the correct answer wins the extra 1 banana i didn't eat for lunch. Its a damn good deal, i will even singpost it over your place.
